Pathways to Independence

PROJECT DETAIL

CATEGORIES

Program Summary & Eligible Participants:

Our Pathways to Independence program is designed to build or install ramps for individuals facing barriers to mobility. These ramps are provided at zero cost to the individual and is funded through grants, like the John W. and Edna McManus Shepard Grant and private donations.

Program Capabilities:

The goal of this program is to ensure individuals that have barriers to mobility are able to easily leave their homes and engage in our community. This helps build self-esteem, confidence and self reliance, while promoting independence and building community bonds.

This program is operated in conjunction with our Ramps for Veterans and both programs provide training opportunities for individuals participating in our workforce development programs.

Examples of Success:

Since 2023 the CDC has installed a total of 15 ramps in Guernsey County.
