“The Guernsey County Community Development Corporation, or CDC, is a local 501(c)3 dedicated to improving the lives of the residents of Guernsey County. Our organization believes in the philosophy of “bottom up” economic development. What this belief means is that we work to make Guernsey County a better place to live and work by creating recreational opportunities geared around park and trail development, improving local township infrastructure and protecting green space and habitat for our area wildlife.”
Parks and Recreation
We work with area communities to build playgrounds for our area youth and we develop walking trails (such as the Great Guernsey Trail) and open access green space for wildlife enthusiasts
Support of Local Veterans
We operate the Disabled Military Veterans Transportation service. This service provide free transportation for our disabled veterans to go anywhere in Guernsey County and beyond.
The CDC works to acquire land adjacent to our area streams in order to repair undercut stream banks and to restore the shore lines. This helps to decrease flooding issues and maintain a healthy natural habitat.
Support of Local Townships
The CDC employees a township coordinator to work on behalf of the CDC and to coordinate assistance between our organization and townships. This includes the installation of culverts, the removal of illegal dump-sites, repairing roads and more.
